Heatless Curls

07/29/2021

Caring for your hair should be top priority, right next to your skincare routine! And limiting the usage of heat is something everyone should explore.

When I was growing up, my mom used to create gorgeous 'locks' in my hair using tights. Very old fashioned I know. I will tell you the method which is very simple below but before I do that lets discuss the daily impact our lifestyles have on our hair.

The longer your hair is, the more care it needs. Simple! So it's super important to make sure that you are looking after your hair -  in general most hair types lacks in moisture and will need weekly hair masks to restore lost moisture. The environment also plays a big factor in the state of our hair. I.e. winter time = heating, summer time = sun exposure, pollution in cities = chemicals and etc..

I am precious about my skincare so why wouldn't I be about my hair care. So I thought I'd share some useful tips on how to create heatless curls with you all. And, trust me, they are super easy to create!

*Always make sure your hair is fully dry - when hair is wet it is at its most vulnerable state and can cause breakage

Mermaid Waves

Depending on the volume you are trying to achieve, you can either separate your hair in 2 sections (pigtails) or four (hot-cross bun), and braid your hair.

Goldilocks

Depending on the length of your hair either, low ponytail or pigtails, put your pony/ponies in the tights and then twist it, securing it with hair bands, twisting it like Princess Leia aka Jen Aniston in friends (for the younger generation).

Marilyn Munro Waves

So this is the newest accessory out on the market - it's like a hair band with long panels and you basically twist your hair around the 'rod' securing it with hair bands.

80's Crimps

Braid loads of small braids, it doesn't have to be perfect.

I am personally a big fan of the Mermaid Waves - it's easy, simple and works well with a bed full of animal climbing all over me all night (Snow White right..?!). But I am venturing out of my comfort zone and loving the Marilyn Munro Waves - so much that I am now stocking it and have bought all my friends one, because I am nice like that.
