We share our top tips for looking after your gorgeous long hair because we know how much care and TLC is needed! With these tips, your hair is much more likely to be beautifully strong and healthy.

1. Brush

Always start at the ends of the hair and work your way up to the root. This ensures no pressure is put on the roots, which minimising breakage. Invest in a boar bristle brush or a tangle teaser - they help to minimise friction when brushing.

2. Weekly Treatments

Depending on what your hair is lacking - moisture or protein, invest in a treatment that will help bring back life to your hair. A great way to see what your hair is lacking is doing a stretch test. When your hair is wet, take an inch long piece of hair and gently pull it using one hand to keep it tight and the other to pull. If the hair is super stretchy it means it is lacking in protein, if not moisture. Hair that is exposed to heat will always need moisture treatment.

3. Heat Protection

A heat protector covers the hair shaft, forming a protective boundary, preventing damage and ensuring your style is smooth and frizz-free.

4. Washing your hair the correct way

Shampooing the scalp ONLY is the right way. That's where most of the oil buildup occurs, and it's important to massage the shampoo into the scalp gently with your fingers to get rid of the buildup. Giving your head a stimulating massage as you are shampooing is a great way to encourage blood circulation and helps to detoxify the scalp as well. Finishing off by using conditioner along the mid-length to end of your hair to restore moisture. Always blast it with cold water for a few seconds as it will close the cuticle and will make your hair shinier.

5. Ditch the Towel

Use a smooth fabric, such as cotton or linen instead of a fluffy towel to get rid of excess moisture before heat styling. By doing this the hair shaft is not caused to fray when you wrap your hair to dry it. The strands are kept smoother within the fabric, lessening the likelihood of frizz or breakage.

Great hair doesn't happen overnight, it takes a lot of dedication, patience, and TLC - but the results are oh so worth it! So why not try our tips out and see how it goes, you'll thank us later!
