Make your curls last all day (and longer)
Ever wondered what the secret is to long lasting curls? Here are some top tips to help you get the most out of your hair when you curl it.
What you'll need:
- Heat Protector
- Finishing Serum
- Hair Spray
- Sectioning Clips
- Curling Tool
Firstly before adding any heat on to your hair, you should always use a heat protector to reduce the amount of damage caused by heat styling. There are many top brands on the marketplace but look for one with the most protection.
Step 1: Heat Protector
Spray the heat protector all over your hair, allow it to sit for a minute or two.
Depending on the density of your hair, and the look that you are going for, will determine how you section your hair.
Step 2: Section your hair
Section your hair into 2 or 4 sections. Starting on the back sections, take sections of hair about 1.5" x 1.5" and using your curling tool wrap the hair around the tool, leaving the ends out, count to 10 and then gently slip the the hair out, still keeping the shape of the curl in your hand, use a sectioning clip to clip the curled hair. Repeat all over.
Clipping the curls straight after curling them will allow them to cool down, meaning the curl will hold for longer.
Step 3: Comb out
Gently removing the clips, using either a wide toothed comb, tangle teezer or your fingers, run it through the curls to create softer looking curls.
Add a finishing serum mid-length to ends, and a touch of hair spray.
Few things to take into consideration - the smaller the sections that you are curling the more fuller your hair will be, whereas taking bigger sections will lead to big bouncy curls.
Each curling tool creates slightly different curls.
